25 years ago, Ewan and Jess Holt and 5 year old Maggie bought Baneberry Hall, a Victorian estate in Vermont. They made it three weeks before bolting in the middle of the night, claiming it was haunted. The recounting of their stay is depicted in Ewan's infamous book, House of Horrors, a story filled with ghosts, evil spirits, and Maggie's encounters with Mr. Shadow and Miss Pennyface. Not only doesn't Maggie remember a... Read Full Review »
The Book of Cold Cases
Author: Simone St. James

One of my most anticipated reads of the year. In 1977, young, rich, and beautiful Beth Greer was accused of murdering two men and leaving cryptic notes at her crime scenes. Although she was acquitted, her perception of the public eye never changed, so she's been living isolated in her mansion ever since. 40 years later, abduction survivor Shea Collins is a true crime junkie and the creator of The Book of Cold Cases, a ... I love Simone St. James. The Sun Down Motel is hiring ... Read Full Review »

This was my first book from Simone St. James, and it won't be my last. I was so intrigued by the story of the girls in 1950 and the infamous Mary Hand. I can honestly say that I don't remember the last time a booking creeped me out this much, and I did not want to put it down. The only missing piece for me was Lady Loon. I wish we had more information on her, as she just disappeared from the story quite early on. I'm u... Read Full Review »

The Drift
Author: C.J. Tudor

What a fun, messy read by C.J. Tudor! I was gifted this book as part of Tandem Read Along in February, and boy did I have fun. In this post-apocalyptic world where a virus is threatening the population, three people are facing imminent danger. Hannah wakes up to carnage after her coach bus crashes in the middle of a snowstorm, trapping all survivors inside. Meg wakes up in a cable car, suspended mid-air after a power o... Read Full Review »
