The Killer Across the Table

Author: John E. Douglas

Book review added by Mel on 2024-01-25

I was absolutely thrilled to get my hands on this book as a devoted fan of the Mindhunter series on Netflix. What made it even better was that it was narrated by Jonathan Groff, who brilliantly portrayed the character based on the author, John E. Douglas, in the show. In this captivating read, Douglas delves deep into the minds of four notorious serial killers whom he had the opportunity to interview during his remarka... Read Full Review »

I absolutely loved this book! Taylor Jenkins Reid might just become my new favorite author. It really made me think about how to move forward when the person you love disappears. How do you let go and convince yourself that they're gone forever? And what happens if you manage to move on and find love again, only to discover that your true love is actually alive and well? This book goes beyond choosing between two great... Read Full Review »

And Then You Were Gone

Author: R.J. Jacobs

Book review added by Mel on 2024-01-21

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. For a debut novel, R.J. Jacobs did an incredible job. The pace was fast, and the narrator, who has bipolar disorder, was portrayed so well. You could really feel the internal struggle she faced. I couldn't quite connect with any of the characters, though. Maybe that was intentional. Overall, it was an interesting read. It didn't completely lose me, but I wasn't fully invested ... Read Full Review »

That Night

Author: Amy Giles

Book review added by Mel on 2024-01-21

My favorite thing about this Amy Giles book is that it focuses on the aftermath of a shooting rather than the shooting itself. It doesn't dwell on the Monster or their reasons for committing such a terrible act. Instead, it delves into the lives of the survivors. It explores the struggles of those who managed to escape and the guilt they feel, as well as the pain of losing loved ones. This book is all about finding the... Read Full Review »

Robin Roe's writing has a certain quality that compels me to devour her books in one go. I was particularly captivated by her latest work, Darkroom Etiquette, and my excitement led me to dive into this one as well. The story revolves around two young men who were once foster brothers and are now reunited in high school. Adam, a popular senior with ADHD, is tasked with helping Julian, who is struggling to come out of hi... Read Full Review »

Losing Hope

Author: Colleen Hoover

Book review added by Lynn on 2024-01-14

Let me start by stating that this book is the sequel to Colleen Hoover's Hopeless. Reading this book before Hopeless would be very confusing. In Hopeless, we are presented with the story of a senior in high school, Sky. She is confronted with her past and falls in love with a boy from her childhood, Dean Holder. In Losing Hope, we are presented with Dean's story. If you loved Hopeless, you will want to hear Dean's side... Read Full Review »

All the Bright Places

Author: Jennifer Niven

Book review added by Mel on 2024-01-14

It's the story of a boy and a girl who come from different worlds, but they are both struggling in their own way. So far, nothing that we haven't read before, so what makes all the bright places different? I'm not 100% sure, but I can say that I always wanted to come back to the story. Told from two different perspectives, it explains the highs and lows of mental illness and how it can affect anyone. I liked this book ... Read Full Review »
