Things We Do in the Dark has all the elements of a great thriller—multiple timelines, a true-crime podcast connection, and dark secrets—but it didn’t fully grip me.
The novel follows Paris, a woman whose past is catching up to her after her husband’s high-profile murder. As she tries to stay out of the spotlight, a journalist digging into her past threatens to unravel everything.
While the plot is interesting, I found some twists predictable and the pacing uneven. Still, Hillier’s writing is engaging, and fans of psychological suspense may enjoy this one. A decent read, but not my favorite from the author.
